Big day! New machines to try out. Headed in and arrived an hour and a half early! Magazines in hand and blanket (crocheted by a friend I helped out for a few years – shuttled her kids and tried to help her make her life work!). Wallace was there for support. He was hoping they could find my brain during the MRI. Funny man. Well, either I am running out of steam on this blog, or it really was an uneventful day. The Brain MRI machine sounded like music. I had ear plugs and a sound barrier set of headphones. The machine sounds inside really sounded like alternative music. You could add a guitar and piano (which I would add to everything!) and have some neat sounds. The room was cold, so they could not find a vein to inject the dye into. That added some time and some concern. All went well.
The PET-CT scan was 3 hours after my brain MRI. So we had much time in the waiting room. There were wireless areas that we could have camped at in other parts of the building, but I wanted to stay close to registration so I could be called. When I was called in, I found this scan to be more restrictive. My head was gently strapped down, my arms were bound, and my feet were held together by rubber bands. I just did what I always do – pretend I am not there. I picture Breckinridge ski area, Peak 10, Mach 1, skiing through the woods. I picture Vermont – green river reservoir – swimming and kayaking. Then I move to Shenandoah in Virgina – hiking, camping, and the views. It all works for me.
NEXT STEP: Call to be sure results are passed along on Monday to my Oncologist and Surgeon.
MY PSYCHE: Enjoy the weekend! Real smile is back.
